Sudbury news: Municipal council fires its integrity commissioner

Sudbury city council has terminated the contract of David Boghosian, the city’s integrity commissioner.

This decision was made at the end of Tuesday evening’s council meeting. Councilors reviewed three reports of code of conduct complaints involving three city councilors.

In his reports, Boghosian said he did not have jurisdiction to investigate complaints about Ward 11 County Bill Leduc. He recommended no penalties for County Ward 5. Mike Parent and a five-day salary suspension for County Ward 7. Nathalie Labbee.

The council voted against this penalty.

Some advisers verbally reprimanded Boghosian and said they had lost confidence in his work and reporting.

“Certainly, the reports that were received were the subject of many editorials and many comments,” said Mayor Paul Lefebvre.

“Certainly some integrity commissioners like to give more of their opinions and views. That’s their choice. I certainly think for some councilors that’s what made them make that decision.”

Boghosian will remain in his position for the next 180 days while the city finds a replacement.
