One Loud Voice conference highlights professionals’ fight against child abuse

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – People fighting for children’s rights gathered Wednesday in Biloxi for the 11th annual One Loud Voice conference.

This year’s winner of the Judge Thomas Broome Award is Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel.

Daniel was known for being an advocate for children, such as going after pedophiles and securing over 40 convictions.

“At first, the parents of one victim said he was their hero because of the way he responded in this case with such compassion and support for both the child and the family ” said Karli Tye, CEO of Children’s Advocacy Centers of Mississippi.

“He’s a champion always willing to raise his hand,” said Crosby Parker, Hancock, Harrison and Stone County District Attorney.

Daniels has practiced law for 22 years, devoting his career to families and children and ensuring their safety.

“When you finish the case that resulted in a conviction, you see that child freed from the abuse that he suffered in many cases and that lasted for many years,” said Assistant District Attorney Chris Daniel .

The award Daniel won was renamed this year in honor of the late Rankin County Youth Court Judge Thomas Broome, who died last year.

“He was a pioneer, he was the one who established a lot of the things we do now and his legacy will continue,” Parker said.
