Yorkton Election 2024: Aaron Kienle wins mayoral seat

The City of Yorkton announced preliminary results for the 2024 election, naming Aaron Kienle as the city’s new mayor, along with two new councilors and four re-elected members.

Kienle won against former Mayor Mitch Hippsley by just under 1,000 votes according to preliminary results Wednesday night.

The newly elected councilors are Stephanie Ortynsky and Greg Litvanyi – with Ortynsky holding the second-highest number of votes, followed by incumbent Dustin Brears.

The re-elected councilors are Quinn Haider, Randy Goulden and Darcy Zaharia.

Candidates who failed to garner enough votes to secure a seat on the council included Lauretta Ritchie-McInnes, Gurjit Dhaliwal, Todd Kulscar and Ron Irvine.

The new city council will be officially sworn in on Friday, November 15 at city hall.
