Troubles deepen for Ola Electric as CCPA launches probe into consumer complaints

SUMMARY

CCPA investigation wing, Director General (DG) Investigations and Bureau of Indian Standards will probe Major EV for false allegations of complaint resolution

Last month, the company responded to the CCPA’s show cause notice regarding an alleged violation of consumer rights.

Ola Electric further informed that 99.1% of the 10,644 complaints were resolved to the complete satisfaction of the customer.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has launched a detailed investigation into numerous consumer complaints filed against electric vehicle maker Ola Electric.

According to ET Now, CCPA investigation wing, Director General (DG) Investigations and Bureau of Indian Standards will probe Major EV on false allegations of complaint resolution.

Last month, the company responded to show cause notice issued by the CCPA regarding an alleged violation of consumer rights. On this subject, the CCPA cross-examined the company’s responses and found them to be false.

Ola Electric then in an exchange file informed that 99.1% of 10,644 complaints have been resolved to the customer’s complete satisfaction, in accordance with the company’s robust redress mechanism.

Following this, the CCPA contacted the complainant who registered his complaints on the National Consumer Helpline. He found that Major EV’s claims were false.

It is pertinent to note that the CCPA on October 7 issued a show cause notice regarding alleged violations of consumer rights, misleading advertisements and unfair trade practices.

The company has notably faced a growing number of consumer complaints in recent months. Recently, Aggarwal was also involved in a social media spat with comedian Kunal Kamra over the company’s after-sales service.

To resolve the issue, Ola Electric recently stated that it would launch “HyperService” to provide “one day resolution” for service-related issues.

He also committed consulting services company EY India for a “service transformation” in response to growing after-sales service challenges and increasing customer complaints.

Shares of Ola Electric were trading 1.38% lower at INR 70 at 3:25 pm on the London Stock Exchange.
