Ipswich Town Football Club has submitted plans to expand its training facility.

The redevelopment of the Playford Road site would include the creation of a “state-of-the-art” first team building, the Premier League club has said.

New spaces included in the plans included a hydrotherapy centre, a modernized gym and rehabilitation areas for players.

Work is expected to start in 2025 and be completed the following year, before the 2026/27 season.

The club said the centre’s existing main building would be extended, renovated and then used by the academy and women’s team.

A new entry point would also be created for players, staff and visitors, as well as additional catering space and parking.

Speaking in September 2023club chief executive Mark Ashton said a “more professional environment” was needed.

“We need several million pounds for training ground facilities to get us up to speed,” he said.
