Mike Tyson rather than Jake Paul? Bet! hosts Desus Nice and Scottie Beam disagree on mega-fight

If you see a video of a food critic like Desus Nice’s Keith Lee in a car eating something he may or may not like, don’t worry, it’s not because the comedian and former host’s opportunities of Showtime have dried up. Quite the contrary.

The existence of this video is the direct result of the last concert in Nice, in which he made the bet that he had absolutely nothing to do. Trying and examining potentially unwanted foods is the penance he had to pay.

As co-host of a new sports and pop culture podcast with Scottie Beam called Bet!Nice immersed itself in the world of Bravo Real Housewives series. And because Bet! involves Beam and Nice giving predictions and allowing fans to play in online pools, he had to take sides on a subject that wasn’t quite in his wheelhouse yet.

“I lost!” Nice said after leaving the camera during a virtual interview with BetFTW. “I lost, but you know what, I’m not a sore loser. In fact, I’m going to post my promise. I’m going to go to a restaurant.”

The restaurant at the center of the bet belongs to Lisa Vanderpump, who starred on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for several years. Nice is not optimistic about this.

In the spirit of their new show, produced by Hartbeat (Kevin Hart) and DraftKings, BetFTW asked the two Bronx natives to make a few more bets on upcoming sports and pop culture moments, including Friday’s fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Here’s where they landed.

Mike Tyson will beat Jake Paul: bet or no bet?

Above Nice: Bet (Tyson will win but won’t destroy Paul)

Scottie Beam: Bet (Tyson will destroy Paul)

DN: Problem is, I want old Mike. I want Mike from the 90s, where the match lasted about 38 seconds. But now, Mike, he’s on podcasts. He does meditation. You know? And then also, you both get paid. There is no more blood rage. So I feel like it’s going to end like a technical knockout or something. I don’t think he’s going to kill him. And unfortunately, that’s what the streets want. The streets want to see a man die in the ring. It’s been a while and, you know, they feed our bloodlust. So I’m going to have to say no, I can’t bet that.

SB: Can’t bet Mike Tyson will win?

DN: No, he will win. I don’t think he’s going to kill it in the ring.

SB: ALL RIGHT. I bet Mike Tyson will tear it up. I’m putting it out into the universe, and that’s why I’m doing it, because I refuse to believe that this man is actually going to beat one of the greats. Like we watched that. What is this man’s name? What’s his name? Jake Paul. Beat all these people and come see Mike Tyson and do the same thing…

DN: But if you look, they’re not fighting for real.

SB: Well, someone needs to come to his ear and say, Hey, talk about your mom. This is how we have to get there. And I hope someone listens to Mike Tyson, because he doesn’t play with his mother. So if anyone whispers that in his ear, I hope they rip his head off.

Both: No betting

SB: Obviously, the Carters have made it clear they don’t need it. When we heard Jay Z’s speech, we were very clear that we didn’t need it. We emphasized it. We want you to know, but even getting it this year would even seem forced. I don’t want it, you know what I’m saying? So yeah, I think it’s good that she has a nomination. I’m glad she got nominations for a country genre, because that’s what you deserve. You know, she’s definitely going to collect. But Album of the Year, no.

DN: She already knows it too. And she doesn’t need it at this point. At this point, if they gave it to him, it’s like a consolation prize. So no, we don’t need it. Pass.

Both: Bet

DN: Oh, I call a bet on that and it has nothing to do with basketball history, statistics, or gameplay. I’m a blind, loyal New Yorker, and the Knicks, it’s early, but the Knicks look great. The Knicks look great. I like how KAT fits into the rotation. And you know what, I feel strong. If Thibs gets his head out of his butt and rotates better, we’ll be in a good position. So I see us in the Eastern Conference final. It’s a bet. In fact, I was tempted to make this bet.

SB: I agree. I’ve been a Knicks fan my whole life. My mom doesn’t play for the Knicks. No one in my family plays. So I’m going to blindly say, yes. I agree.

Both: No betting

DN: I will say there is no bet, but I will say I bet he will be pardoned by Trump, because he is working hard for it.

SB: It’s crazy. And I agree. No bets.

DN: Does he even run? He’s too busy in hookah lounges. He no longer cares about being mayor.

Both: No betting

SB: Kendrick Lamar is done. We saw it. We all know who won. We all know it’s over. I hope we can all move forward. I hope Drake takes a little break and Kendrick can have his Super Bowl in peace. And that, you know, we lose some, we win some, but you live, you live to fight another day, right? But I hope not. I’m just fed up.

DN: I think he’s finished. Even if he plays Not like usthat’s all he has to do. He has nothing more to say.
