Trump reportedly considering Kash Patel to lead FBI

CNN reported Friday that Kash Patel is under consideration by the president-elect Donald Trump to lead the FBI. Patel, a former Trump appointee at the Pentagon, has long been a close ally of Trump and in the past has threat to take revenge on Trump’s critics.

CNN Manu Raju reported the news on the air and turned to Sarah Murray who broke the history with Kristen Holmes.

“Sara, I want to start with you. So explain why this is alarming to so many people? » Raju began.

“Well, I think it’s alarming to people because they consider that Kash Patel is actually a Trump loyalist, someone who, if Donald Trump chose him to run, the FBI would be the kind of no one capable of getting revenge on Trump’s political enemies. We can purge career civil servants, we can try to declassify sensitive information,” Murray began, adding:

And who personally lobbied for the FBI job, the CIA director job, which he basically didn’t get like any of these high-profile positions in the Trump administration, and that his main argument selling point is that he really believes in the deep state? the same way as Donald Trump, the so-called deep state, and actually believes that Donald Trump was unfairly targeted for revenge. So I just want to listen to some of Patel’s own comments. And speaking with another right-wing Trump ally, Steve Bannon.

CNN then aired a clip of Patel on Bannon’s War Room podcast, saying, “Where are the guys looking to clean up their messes and their abuse of the law?” And they turn around and throw this rhetoric in our faces and say: we are the ones who are going to lead a campaign of revenge. They have dominated an illegal revenge campaign against Trump in America for almost a decade for his supporters.”

Bannon and Patel made headlines in December 2023 when they threatened MSNBC hosts with revenge in the form of “lawsuit and accountability.”

“Are you very confident that when you come back and, as a senior member of this administration, the administration of President Trump that began on the afternoon of January 20, 2025, will you be confident that you will be in able to deliver the goods which we may have serious lawsuits and responsibilities? Bannon said to Patel, adding:

And I want it Morning Joe the producers watching us and all the producers watching us – it’s just not rhetoric. We are absolutely very serious.

Patel also told the podcaster Shawn Ryan“I would close the Hoover FBI building on day one…and reopen it as a museum of the deep state.” Patel said he would send the 7,000 construction workers “across America” to become cops instead of sending them to Washington. Elon Musk responded to the clip shared online by saying, “100%.”
