Woman’s Parents Recreate Her Outfit on Barbie Doll

This is a truly one of a kind gift.

Fashion designer Berenice Castro – who posts online under the name Benulus – shared a now-viral post TikTok that his parents and his sister surprised him with a totally unique gift: a Barbie doll which they personally customized to look like him.

In the video, Castro, 28, receives the Barbie doll – “an early birthday present for your 28th (birthday)” – from her mother and is upset. The doll’s outfit is a recreation of an outfit she put online back in June. Castro wrote that she “never imagined this.”

Her parents filmed part of their process of customizing the doll. They cut the doll’s feet to fit the boots, and her mother used her sewing machine to painstakingly recreate each piece of her outfit. The outfit itself included leopard print tights, a leopard print crop top, a sheer brown beaded dress, a brown corset, layers of chunky necklaces and bracelets, chunky pearl earrings, and a brown hat assorted. Castro completed the original look with sunglasses and a leopard handbag, and the doll also had her own matching ensemble.

“My mom never had a Barbie growing up,” Castro wrote in the video. “But that was never the case for his daughters.” Her mother hand-sewed beads onto the dress while her little sister carefully painted a replica of her turquoise eye makeup and her father used pliers to create custom Barbie-sized jewelry and attach it to the doll.

“She even made the exact same corset,” Castro wrote of images of the tiny lace-up bodice her mother created.

When Castro received the doll, she immediately started crying and noted, “She is so beautiful.” She included a video of the original outfit to show what an amazing playtime her parents had created.

Castro hugged his mother and wrote on the video, “(I) started crying even harder when she showed me that SHE made it with her own hands.” I want to think she healed some part of her inner child with this. She and her mother posed with the doll, both smiling

“I am a Barbie collector,” Castro wrote. “Nothing will ever be more valuable than this.”
