Another unseasonably warm day before we face the reality of late November.

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – It was another mild mid-November day to add to the tally, as we saw afternoon highs in the 60s. There will be one more unseasonably warm day before Weather changes only bring us a reality check at the end of November.

This evening will be mild by November standards thanks to clouds and breezy south-southeast winds. In fact, winds will remain quite breezy overnight, which will help keep temperatures from dropping too much. Morning lows on Saturday, for most of us, will be between 40 and 45 degrees. A little cooler in western areas where there will be both fewer clouds and less wind. Saturday could be our last “warm” day of the season, as temperatures climb back into the 60s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will again be breezy from the south, although they will shift more to the northwest behind a cold front that will pass through about half the area through tomorrow. The front will finish moving through the area Saturday evening as temperatures fall back to the upper 20s in the west and low 40s in the southeast. On Sunday there will be a slight cooling, but less wind. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny as highs reach the mid-50s (which the advisory says is still above average).

A storm system is still on its way to bring very beneficial rain to most of the region. The exception will be the westernmost and northwestern parts of the area, where a sharp decline to much lower quantities and ultimately nothing is expected. Most of this rain will fall between midnight and midnight Monday. Widespread rain of 1 to 2 inches is expected in central parts of the state, with higher amounts up to 2.50″ potentially in the eastern and southeastern parts of the state. Unfortunately, precipitation amounts decrease as you head west and no rain is expected in the drier areas of the state. Highs on Monday are expected to be in the upper 40s and low 50s for most. After Monday, I don’t expect any humidity for the rest of the week. It looked like we were going to see snowflakes in central locations mid-week, but that idea has since disappeared. If anyone is going to see light snow, it will be the far northern and northeastern counties of the state on Wednesday.
