Burnaby non-profit recognized as one of Canada’s best employers

This is the second time the organization has been recognized.

A Burnaby non-profit organization has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

United Way BC has been included in Mediacorp Canada Inc.’s annual list for 2025-2026.

This is the second time the organization has made the list.

“This national recognition reflects the strong culture we have built since our merger in 2021,” said Michael McKnight, president and CEO of United Way British Columbia, in a press release.

“I am incredibly proud to lead such a talented and committed group of people who not only meet, but exceed expectations. We have demonstrated once again that when we come together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.

United Way BC’s mission statement explains that it aims to attract a diverse, community-focused and purpose-driven workforce.

The list evaluates organizations based on eight criteria: community involvement, workplace, atmosphere, benefits, vacation policies, employee communication, performance management and training.

“We are seeing the winners of the competition adapt to reflect Canada’s evolution,” Top 100 spokesperson Kristina Leung said in a separate statement.

“Top employers recognize that traditional employee benefits – such as paid time off for religious holidays, medical and health benefits, or even cultural events hosted for employees – must reflect the nation as it is today , and not what it could have been when these programs were created.”

The ranking of Canada’s 100 best employers has been published annually for 25 years.

The United Way of British Columbia head office in Burnaby is located at 4543 Canada Road.
