The Rams’ mentality heading into the second half of the season

The Los Angeles Rams are at a crossroads in their season. After starting 1-4, the Rams won three games before losing at home to the Miami Dolphins.

The Rams’ lackluster performance on Monday Night Football was unfortunate, as it was an opportunity for the Rams to continue to advance in a potential playoff push. Luckily for Los Angeles, there’s still plenty of season left to make up.

Rams head coach Sean McVay believes the Rams’ mentality in the second half of the season will be critical.

“I think there are a lot of cases where we haven’t had continuity that hasn’t really been applicable,” McVay said. “I think you continually say, ‘Okay, maybe you had a vision of what this identity was, and now you’re continually trying to find it.’ Even for us last year, it was an evolving thing.

“No year is ever the same. I think it’s important to be able to say, “What is this weekly rhythm that you want to establish, and can you then build on that based on the momentum you see?” There have been instances where this has happened where I can reflect. “

“I think our defense is a good example of that,” McVay said. “When you look at it, we’re going through these injuries, and I feel bad for these guys, but there’s a Rolodex of different moving parts that we’ve got to be able to get through this. I hope we can start to find some continuity. All we have is this game and we’re guaranteed eight more shots.

For McVay, establishing continuity and trust within the team is almost as essential as keeping the team healthy down the stretch.

“We want to be able to start establishing that,” McVay said. “If we can stay healthy, if we can have some of the same guys doing the same things, building relationships with each other and then being able to establish the things that you’re asking about, I think this can be reflected because repetition is the mother of learning.

“I think that’s where the real improvement happens.” I saw it, but you never downplay it importance guys who can work together. This is a real factor that you need to recognize while knowing that it is something you need to be able to work on. It’s not an excuse, but how do we put these guys in the best spots and get them up to speed as quickly as possible?
