World Rugby rankings: the Springboks increase their lead, the All Blacks fall and the USA progress: Planet Rugby

The Springboks increased their lead at the top of the World Rugby rankings while the All Blacks slipped and Ireland progressed after the weekend’s Autumn Nations Series action.

New Zealand knocked Ireland out of top spot in the world rankings following their 23-13 victory at the Aviva Stadium a fortnight ago, as Andy Farrell’s side moved from first to second third place.

However, there was some movement in the top 20, with Japan leapfrogging Samoa into 13th place after Eddie Jones’ side beat Uruguay 36-20 at the Stade Chambéry Savoie in France.

The United States’ first victory over Tonga since 1999 saw the Americans swap places with Portugal, with the Eagles moving up to 15th. As for Tonga, they lost one place behind Uruguay and find themselves in 19th place, with Romania completing the top 20.

Outside the top 20, the Netherlands and Kenya were the biggest climbers, with the Dutch rising from 27th to 24th position after their shock win over Chile, while the Kenyans beat Uganda 21-5 to also gain three places, going from 36th to 33rd.
