Emmerdale airs surprise appearance in ITVX episode

Emmerdale spoilers follow Wednesday’s episode (November 20)which can be viewed now on streaming service ITVX but has not yet been broadcast on ITV1.

Emmerdale broadcast a surprise return for dead character Holly Barton.

Sophie Powles briefly reprized her role in Wednesday’s (November 20) special episode, focusing on Moira Dingle’s brain tumor story.

The final visit to the Dales saw Moira undergo an operation to remove her tumor, with the first half of the episode focusing on the dreams she was having on the operating table.

Moira dreamed of spending time with her sons Kyle and Isaac inside Butler’s Farm, but when she went outside, a surprise awaited her.

Moira reunited with her late daughter Holly by her side, bringing the two characters together on screen for the first time since Holly’s fatal overdose in 2016.

Holly offered some words of comfort to her mother, promising she was “better now” and apologizing for making her so sad with her tragic drug relapse.

Just when it looked like Moira might follow Holly into the afterlife, she became concerned about Kyle and Isaac’s whereabouts elsewhere on the farm and insisted on checking on them.

In heartbreaking scenes, mother and daughter were separated once again as Holly left – and Moira’s dream ended as she emerged from her operation.

Meanwhile, the second half of the episode was unfolding in reverse chronological orderexploring how Moira’s emotional husband Cain is coping as he anxiously awaits news.

In the episode’s second major plot twist, Cain cheated on Moira with her sister-in-law Ruby Fox-Miligan as a heated argument between them in the garage led to unexpected passion.

Cain immediately regretted his actions, which stemmed from his fear of losing his wife, but has he now jeopardized their entire future?

Emmerdale is broadcast weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on ITV1 and broadcast on ITVX.
