Man injured in downtown Toronto shooting, suspect sought

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a shooting Sunday evening in Toronto’s downtown east side.

The incident occurred in the Cabbagetown South neighborhood, near Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East.

Toronto police said they were called to the area shortly before 9:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunshots being heard in the area.

They said officers found a man with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and a vehicle was seen fleeing the area.

Police say the two suspects, a man and a woman, fled the scene.

In a follow-up article on X, they said officers located the suspects’ vehicle, which was involved in a single-vehicle collision.

One of the suspects was arrested while the other fled.

A firearm was also recovered, they said.

No further description of the suspect is available at this time.

There is currently an increased police presence in the area.

Sherbourne is closed between Dundas and Gerrard streets and police are asking drivers to use alternate routes.
