Old Liam Payne tweet resurfaces as One Direction member is laid to rest


New Delhi:

Fans, family and friends bid tearful goodbyes to Liam Payne at his funeral. On Wednesday, November 20, the singer and former member of One Direction was buried at St. Mary’s Church in Buckinghamshire, England. His One Direction teammates Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan were also present at the private service. Amid the ongoing funeral, a tweet from young Liam resurfaced on the internet. It read: “If I die, will you come to my funeral?” The post was uploaded to X (formerly Twitter) in 2010.

Heartbroken fans were quick to respond to the emotional message.

“Why did you write that? It hurts,” one person exclaimed.

As if in responding to Liam Payne, an individual had said, “Yes, we would. And your loved ones were there. You also watched every process. You were there, I know with your soul. I wish I could bring you back. Forgive us, Liam. But we still have Bear. Now, rest in peace.

Here is another touching remark: “They have come, Rest in peace, enjoy paradise, you have done well, you have lived.”

One user noted that it seems “unreal…seeing this when today is his funeral.”

Among other attendees who paid their last respects to Liam Payne was his girlfriend. Kate Cassidy and her ex-partner and Girls Aloud Yesfinger Cheryl. Liam and Cheryl share a 7-year-old son, Bear Grey. Liam’s friend James Corden, One Direction co-creator Simon Cowell and his fiancée Lauren Silverman were also in attendance.

On October 16, Liam Payne died after falling three stories from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old. A press release No. 14 from the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office on November 7 revealed that Liam’s toxicology results showed traces of “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” in his body. Prosecutors, however, ruled out “Liam’s self-harm.” any kind and/or physical intervention of third parties” as the cause of his death.

Liam Payne was born in Wolverhampton, England. He drew attention to The X factor in 2008 and joined One Direction in 2010.
