Milwaukee Brewers Manager Gives Incredibly Honest Answer About Free Farming Willy Adames

Transparency is a good thing in life, but Milwaukee Brewers fans certainly didn’t want to hear that from manager Pat Murphy.

A day after winning the National League Manager of the Year award, Murphy appeared on the popular show “Foul Territory” and gave a not-so-good answer when asked about the shutdown- short free agent Willy Adames.

Murphy was asked how much he wanted Adames to return to the club and responded with the following:

“If he comes back, it means he didn’t get the deal he was looking for.”

Even though there was always no way Adames would return to Milwaukee, this basically tells fans that there’s no way they could afford him.

While unfortunate, this is nothing new for Milwaukee, who traded away Josh Hader and Corbin Burnes in recent seasons to avoid paying them big money. It’s worth noting that they made a big deal with former MVP Christian Yelich.

If and when Adames leaves Milwaukee, it will be a huge loss for a group that won the National League Central a season ago. The Brewers won the division and advanced to the National League wild card round, losing to the New York Mets.

Adames hit .251 with 32 homers and 112 RBIs last season. He helped carry the lineup, even though Yelich missed part of the year.

A seven-year veteran with the Tampa Bay Rays and The brewers, Adames is a lifetime .248 hitter. He has hit exactly 150 career home runs, with this year’s 32 being his career high.
