KANSAS CITY — Law enforcement is investigating a fatal shooting at a Kansas City pizzeria.

Just after 8 p.m. On Friday, police were dispatched to a shooting at a restaurant in 8700 Blue Ridge, according to KCPD Capt. Jake Becchina.

Upon arrival, officers were directed inside the business where they located a gunshot victim, later identified as Reginald Lamar, 48, unresponsive. Officers summoned emergency medical services inside the business and pronounced Lamar deceased at the scene.

Responding officers arrested a male subject of interest who was at the scene when officers arrived for further investigation.

The investigation indicates the suspect and Lamar were inside the business when they got into an argument. The argument quickly escalated, leading to one or more shots being fired and Lamar being struck.

The suspect and Lamar knew each other and this appears to be the result of an argument or disagreement.

Detectives search for witnesses and work with crime scene investigators to process and gather all available evidence. Detectives are also speaking with numerous people who were at the scene when officers arrived to gather more information about what led to the shooting.
