Haters devour viral Thanksgiving recipe: ‘How many people have you killed?’ »

This recipe was a real turkey, even though it didn’t contain any.

A one-pan Thanksgiving recipe video is turning stomachs, with outraged critics describing it as “one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen” and warning others to “DO NOT try this at home.” House “.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 7.5 million times so far, content creator Kate Heintzelman Place a raw, unwashed chicken in an aluminum pan, then add all of its raw side dishes, straight from the can or box.

It was a recipe for disaster – and Instagrammers slammed her for unsafe food preparation, with comments such as “What’s the salmonella cross-contamination going on here?” meat already? and “How many people have you killed?”

Some, however, defended her by saying: “It’s not cross contamination… have you ever cooked meat with vegetables?

Heintzelman, 32, told the Post there’s nothing wrong with putting a raw chicken in a pan with raw vegetables.

“So you can’t put chicken with anything?” You put a roast in a slow cooker with potatoes. Are you telling me you can’t eat the potatoes because they touched the raw meat at some point? It doesn’t make sense to me,” she said.

She also doesn’t understand all the chirping about her not washing the bird.

“You might have 100 people telling you you need to rinse your chicken. Then, if you rinse your chicken, people say, “Why are you rinsing your chicken?” “, she said.

Heintzelman, a former Minnesota high school social studies teacher who launched her Instagram account @katewilltryanything during the pandemic, canned mashed potato powder and stuffing, as well as corn, yams and green beans, all poured straight from the can.

Heintzelman defended his decision to use quick ingredients and not cook from scratch.

“I am not my grandmother. And it’s really hard to remember how to make all these homemade things and it takes a lot of time,” she said.

“I want a full Thanksgiving dinner and if it’s just me and two or three other people, and there’s 100 pots to make…I thought, ‘What if we put all of that in one pot ? »

“In our family, we asked you to bring towels,” one joked.

“You can bring the scrolls. Store bought,” added another.

“Damn, just bring the ice cream,” someone else said.

“Yes, people don’t want me to be in charge of the cooking,” she says with a laugh.
