Can Brooklyn Nets’ Cam Thomas become an All-Star?

The Brooklyn Nets are hoping to see more development from Cam Thomas after the team opted not to extend his contract this offseason.

Thomas, 23, is averaging over 24 points per game, but he still needs to make some progress for the Nets to commit to him long-term.

“Thomas is a great option when Brooklyn needs a bucket, but not necessarily the best candidate to handle an entire game. Maybe that will change over time. There are individual possessions where you can feel the blinders of Thomas loosens up a bit, resulting in a whipped pass into the corner or a nice pass to a big inside. Then there’s. all the otherswhen a goalkeeper who scores first follows his whims – mainly, this season, for positive purposes, ” Ringer contributor Rob Mahoney writes.

Either the Nets need to find players who will complement Thomas and fill his gaps, or the team needs him to become that versatile player that the franchise can build around for many years to come.

Thomas and the Nets head to the West Coast to begin a three-game road trip that begins tomorrow night in the California capital against De’Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings. Game announcement is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
