Spider-Man 4 It may be the talk of the town in the Marvel Universe, as we’re dying to see Sony and Marvel announce the sequel, but it’s not the only highly anticipated one that fans of the film want Spidey. Sony has yet to deliver the latest entry in the Spider Worms trilogy, an animated project that was delayed from Through the Spider-Verse released in theaters.

If you are waiting for a Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse release date update, don’t get your hopes up. A new report suggests Sony might be taking its time with this one for a reason I didn’t see coming. Apparently Sony doesn’t know how to finish Beyond the Spider-Verse.

As a big fan of Spider Worms movies, I hope Sony doesn’t ruin this one too. I’m willing to accept whatever Sony does with it Spider-Man 4but Beyond the Spider-Verse better be amazing.

When Sony announced the Beyond the Spider-Verse late, I said it was actually great news. I want the third part of Spider Worms the story is as good as the previous ones. I’m not just talking about the story, but the animation and music. It’s the whole thing that does this Spiderman the story is so good.

THE Spider Worms is my favorite Sony Spiderman adventure, and I say this as an MCU fan who prefers the MCU’s Peter Parker over the others. Yet Sony has absolutely succeeded with both Spider Worms episodes released so far that I would hate to see it fumble the finale.

This delay seemed to be linked to the actual animation work for the third part. It made sense, considering what we saw in previous episodes. Animation is a big reason why Spider Worms the stories are so good. This allows Sony to add a layer to the story that isn’t exactly possible in live-action.

But let’s go back to mid-November 2024 and we see some unexpected developments. First, Sony installed a Spider Worms teaser a few days ago in New York, which suggested a Beyond the Spider-Verse the release date announcement was imminent. However, this was not the case. Instead, it was part of a Sony promotion for its latest TVs.

That’s what Brand Davis and his Phase Hero podcast guests. More worrying is something Davis himself shared. He says Beyond the Spider-Verse is “very far away” and may not even be animated. This is because Sony rebooted the script after the Through the Spider-Verse release. Apparently they don’t have an ending, at least not one they could agree on. Oh, boy!

Until now I was afraid that Sony would ruin Spider-Man 4 by demanding too much from what should essentially be a soft reboot for the character. Reports indicated that Sony wanted the film to be as big as No way home and feature multiversal elements, such as the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Men.

Marvel wanted a more grounded story, which is the way to go. This is how we rebuild towards another great No way home success. These are of course rumors, but it makes sense.

Sony wants its Spider-Man Universe (SSU) to rival the MCU, and we’re pressing for it. But Sony hasn’t learned how to create good SSU stories. The only exception is the Spider Worms movies. And yes, I include the Tom Holland Spiderman films in the list of films made by Sony Spiderman films that could be better.

Although I will ultimately accept whatever happens in Spider-Man 4assuming the rumors are true and Sony has what it wants with the story, I also don’t want to have to worry Beyond the Spider-Verse. This is a film that Sony shouldn’t make any mistakes on. My point is that Sony executives should let the creatives do the cooking.

Without forgetting that Sony and Marvel have a great chance here to link the Spider Worms has Avengers: Secret Wars and possibly bring this version of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) to the MCU. For this to happen, Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to hit theaters well before May 2027, when Secret Wars firsts.

I hope that my concerns are unwarranted and that we will have official news on this matter. Beyond the Spider-Verse very soon. On that same note, hopefully, Spider-Man 4 will also see an official announcement soon.
