New exclusive survey: Harris, Trump deadlock in battleground Wisconsin

Harris leads Trump 49% to 47% in ABC News poll

Harris regained a slight lead among likely voters nationally in the latest ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday, which surveyed 2,808 adults in total.

The poll shows Harris leading 49 percent to 47 percent among the 2,392 registered voters surveyed. Looking at likely voters (1,913 in this poll), Harris also holds a slight advantage, at 51%, compared to Trump’s 47%.

The poll had a margin of sampling error of 2 percentage points.

“Compared to earlier this month, Harris regained a more usual Democratic advantage among Hispanics and widened her advantage among suburban women, while remaining strong among major groups, including blacks,” the poll said. “Trump is pushing the envelope in rural areas and among non-college white men, and running competitively among younger men.”

The survey was conducted from October 18 to 22.

The new poll shows that most respondents view Trump as the best candidate to address issues such as immigration and the economy. Harris, meanwhile, was considered among those surveyed to be best at handling issues like abortion and health care.

Things to Keep in Mind About Surveys

The margin of error describes how accurately we can count on the survey results being representative of the entire population.

When a candidate’s lead is “within” the margin of error, it is considered a “statistical tie,” according to Pew Research Center.

Pew also found that the majority of pollsters have changed their methods since the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, where Trump’s performance was significantly underestimated.
