Seneca supervisors to discuss budget, tourism, housing and public safety at Tuesday meetings

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will meet Tuesday evening for a series of committee meetings and a special board meeting, addressing an array of critical issues, including the 2025 county budget, public safety initiatives, housing development and tourism projects.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with committee meetings at the Seneca County Office Building.

Public safety and criminal justice

The committee will consider resolutions to renew health claims assessment contracts for incarcerated people, authorize training for a deputy sheriff in digital evidence analysis, and approve a state law enforcement grant navigation.

Economic development and housing

Key discussions include approving funds for the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Scenic Byway, providing grants for local tourism efforts such as the “It’s a Wonderful Life Festival” and Seneca Lake Resorts, and promoting of a comprehensive county-wide housing strategy.

Health and social services

Agenda Focuses on Authorizing Agreements for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Applying for Public Health Seniors Climate Change Adaptation Grant and Calling for Funding increased publicity to protect public water supplies.

Special meeting of the board of directors

The special meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. immediately following committees, will include a public hearing on the county’s tentative budget for 2025. This hearing will provide an opportunity for residents and officials to comment on budget priorities for the coming year.

Meetings are open to the public, providing community members with an opportunity to participate in the decision-making process on policies impacting public safety, housing and economic development in Seneca County.
