TOKYO — Canadians Bianca Andreescu and Leylah Fernandez were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Friday.

Andreescu was ousted after losing a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Britain’s Katie Boulter.

Andreescu, of Mississauga, Ont., won just 45 percent of the first-serve points in the match, which lasted just 62 minutes. Boulter won 87 percent of the first serve points. Boulter will next face Russian Sofia Kenin in the semi-final on Saturday.

Leylah Fernandez of Laval, Que., lost 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 to top seed Qinwen Zheng of China later Friday. Zheng, the Olympic champion, will play Russian Diana Shnaider, who qualified thanks to a withdrawal against Sayaka Ishii.

In women’s doubles, the top-seeded duo of Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa and Erin Routliffe of New Zealand earned a 6-1, 7-6 (4) quarterfinal victory over Peangtarn Plipuech of Thailand and Chia Yi Tsao from Taiwan.

Dabrowski and Routliffe will meet the Japanese pair of Eri Hozumi and Shuko Aoyama in Saturday’s semi-final.
