A body found in a river has been officially identified as that of Victoria Taylor, the mother of a missing child.

Ms Taylor, 34, from Huddersfield, was last seen at her home in Malton, North Yorkshire, and was reported missing on October 1.

The disappearance of the nursing home nurse has sparked a major police response, with a body discovered in the River Derwent on Tuesday.

North Yorkshire Police said a post-mortem examination had been carried out and a file was being prepared for the coroner.

A force spokesperson said: “Victoria’s family have been informed of this update.

“Our thoughts are with them and we ask that their privacy be respected.”
