Suspect wanted in iPhone theft during Facebook Marketplace encounter

Police have released a photo of a man who allegedly stole an iPhone during a Facebook Marketplace encounter in Oshawa earlier this month.

This happened in the region of Oxford Street and Malaga Road the evening of October 1st.

Durham police said the suspect met with the victim to purchase an iPhone 15 advertised on Facebook Marketplace.

“When the victim handed the phone to the suspect for inspection, the suspect told the victim he would get the cash to pay for it in his car. The suspect entered his vehicle, while holding the phone, and fled the scene. police said in a press release on Friday.

The suspect is described as a dark-haired male, 20 to 28 years old, between five feet seven inches and five feet nine inches tall, of medium build, with black hair, a black goatee and glasses.
