Skinner makes 27 saves in shutout, Oilers beat Penguins

It was Skinner’s first shutout of the season and his fifth in the NHL.

Evan Bouchard and Mattias Ekholm each had a goal and an assist, and Viktor Arvidsson had three assists for the Oilers (3-4-1), who had lost two in a row.

Joel Blomqvist made 46 saves for the Penguins (3-5-1), who have lost four straight (0-3-1).

Edmonton outscored Pittsburgh 19-5 in the first period.

Leon Draisaitl gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead at 13:00 of the second period with a wrist shot from just above the faceoff dot right past Blomqvist’s blocker.

Bouchard made it 2-0 at 17:35, with a wrist shot from the high slot that beat the side of Blomqvist’s stick.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored 16 seconds into the third period to make it 3-0, gathering a bouncing puck in front of the Penguins net and slotting it in for his first goal of the season.

Ekholm scored on the power play to make the final 4-0 at 7:00, a wrist shot from the point in traffic.
