Spooky and safe fun in West Michigan, October 26-27

There’s plenty to do in West Michigan this weekend, here’s a look at some of the fun events!

END OF SEASON: It’s the end of the season for Muskegon’s Getty Drive-In, and as tradition dictates, the local icon goes out with the “SpooGetty.” There will be trunk or treat, a costume contest for the best decorated car and costume, and a scary movie on Giant Screen 1. For $6, check out the double feature of Hocus Pocus And The Nightmare Before Christmas. There are other scary double features like Smile 2, Beetle juice Beetle juice and more at traditional prices. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., home care begins at 5:30 p.m., films start at 7 p.m. Click here for tickets and details.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS: It’s Dia De Los Muertos season and the celebrations begin today. You can visit the Holland Museum Saturday afternoon starting at 12:30 p.m. for a special celebration in collaboration with Latin Americans United for Progress and Cultureworks. The afternoon will include a free family program with music by Hector Estupian and Isela Alavarez, with dance performances from Ballet Folklorico De Mi Terra (Kalamazoo) and Ballet Folloric Sol Azteca (Holland). GRAND HAVEN FALL FESTIVAL: The Grand Haven Fall Festival returns Saturday with spooky family fun. There will be trick-or-treating downtown and downtown from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, as well as two exciting experiences: the Haunted Museum and the Elks Sensory Haunted House. The Tri-Cities Historical Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for crafts, games, trick-or-treating and more. Learn about Halloween traditions in the Victorian home. Plus, a scary legend in the area. The Elks Lodge has been transformed into a maze of haunted rooms and spooky surprises, but the lights are on and it was designed to be inclusive for all. Weird in OTTAWA: There’s plenty of fun for older kids in Grand Rapids at Oddities in Ottawa. The fun starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 10 p.m. There are two stages, over 20 DJs, beer vendors, vendors, aerial zombies, live painters, tarot cards and much more. Additionally, the Michigan – Michigan State game will be broadcast on a jumbotron starting at 7:30 p.m. The costume contest starts at 5:00 p.m. and over $1,000 in cash prizes are on the line. This all happens between the Garage Bar and the Chicago Beef Joint on Ottawa Ave. There are both GA and VIP tickets available.

ORANGE ICE DAY: Sunday is Orange Ice Day in Kalamazoo as the K-Wings take on the Cincinnati Cyclones. No other team paints ice like the K-Wings, plus there’s a costume contest with prizes and a first fan skate of the season after the Halloween game. Rentals are available for $5.
