Pettersson scores as Canucks score four goals in six minutes to beat Penguins

Before the game began, Tyler Myers received his silver stick as the Vancouver Canucks defenseman received his flowers for appearing in 1,000 NHL games. No surprise, Myers’ teammates had wonderful things to say about him. He is one of the great people in hockey, and it was special to see him honored by a city and province where he calls home.

Now the game.

Michael Bunting took a brutal penalty to kick off on the heels of a strong offensive zone shift from Elias Pettersson’s line, giving the Canucks the first power play of the game early on.

What followed was one of the most disjointed power plays I’ve ever seen, as the first and second units struggled to get going.

The Penguins opened the scoring when Anthony Beauvillier fired a point shot over Kevin Lankinen’s right shoulder to score. 1-0 visitors.
