Filming locations and cast, explored

Directed by Peter Benson, “The 5-Year Christmas Party” follows two former drama school rivals as they meet again each holiday season. Alice and Max reunite again while working at an annual Christmas party hosted by a bustling Chicago catering company. Over the course of five years of shared laughter, friendly banter, and occasional bickering, the two develop a chemistry that’s hard to ignore. Yet the two never seem to find the right situation for love to blossom until their final season is announced. The punch love movie takes us through glittering party locations and warm, welcoming environments that reflect the vibrant holiday charm of the story.

Where was the 5th anniversary Christmas party filmed?

Filming for “The 5-Year Christmas Party” took place in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. The principal filming would have taken place between April 2 and 22, 2024, under the title “5-year-old Christmas Party”. The actors seemed to enjoy working together and Peter Benson particularly praised lead actors Katie Findlay and Jordan Fisher for their work during filming. Supporting actor Carey Feehan, who plays Frank, shares this sentiment. “What a great day working with the great (Katie Findlay) for the second time and the incredible (Jordan Fisher) for the first time! Everyone was so fun and great to work with,” he captioned an image he shared on Instagram.

Metro Vancouver, British Columbia

“The 5-Year Christmas Party” was filmed entirely in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. Comprised of Vancouver and its surrounding territories, the region and carefully selected filming locations gave the film a festive and warm atmosphere, perfect for a heartwarming holiday romance. However, much of the dynamism of the environments seen in the film can be attributed to the dedicated production team working behind the scenes. While filming in Vancouver in April, the crew simulated winter settings with fake snow, appropriate wardrobe and plenty of Christmas props.

Burnaby notably served as a base for the team, as the city is known for its diverse cinematic landscapes, which include picturesque parks, urban streetscapes and studios. It appears that the Hallmark movie used filming properties and a backlot at a movie studio while doing the majority of the filming. Completing filming within 20 days is about the average length of Hallmark productions, and “The 5-Year Christmas” has all the filming locations set up in pre-production, with Sarah Done serving as stage manager.

Vancouver’s popularity as a filming destination owes much to its ability to effortlessly transform into different types of cityscapes ranging from a bustling metropolis to a picturesque city. An experienced local crew, production infrastructure and financial incentives also contribute to the ease of filmmaking in Vancouver, making it a go-to filming destination for Hallmark films. Some of the network films filmed here include ‘This time every year,”The True West,’ ‘Nelly knows the mysteries: a fatal engagement,”Scouting for Christmas,”His and hers,”The chicken sisters,’ And ‘Holiday Crashers.
