Pedestrian dies after collision in Surrey

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Surrey on Sunday.

Surrey RCMP received a call about a collision in the 7600 block of 128th Street, at 76th Avenue, at 2:45 p.m., police said in a news release.

“Despite rescue efforts, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the statement said.

Video from the scene shows a TransLink bus parked in the middle of the road, flanked by a TransLink surveillance vehicle and an unmarked police car. Several other Surrey RCMP vehicles are present.

The crash led to road closures in the area, with 128th Street closed north and south between 76th Avenue and 76A Avenue.

Traffic in surrounding areas has been disrupted and drivers can expect significant delays, police said.

“The closure will remain in effect indefinitely while investigators examine the scene.”

Surrey RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage in the area to contact 604-599-0502.
