Driver hospitalized after collision between semi-trailer and SUV in Surrey, RCMP say

The road has now reopened at 184th Street and 32nd Avenue after a serious collision in the Campbell Heights neighborhood of Surrey this afternoon.

Surrey RCMP say they received a call about a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Routes 184 and 32. The driver of one vehicle, a Nissan, was taken to hospital with injuries police said described as life-threatening.

A Black Press freelancer on scene reported that the Nissan was an SUV, while the other vehicle was a tractor-trailer.

The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) was on scene, according to a Surrey RCMP news release shortly before 6 p.m., and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service ( ICARS) was called.

The investigation is still in its early stages and investigators are working to identify the causes of the accident.

The intersection of 184th Street and 32nd The avenue was closed in all directions so investigators could examine the scene, but an update from Surrey RCMP at 8 p.m. indicated the road was now reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage in the area is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
