Baba Ijesha: “Please forgive me” – Suspended actress Nkechi Blessing apologizes to TAMPAN

Suspended Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing, has issued a public apology to
the Theater and Cinema Arts Practitioners of Nigeria, TAMPAN, for his past reviews.

TAMPAN is the umbrella organization for Yoruba actors and filmmakers in Nigeria.

The apology comes 3 years after his suspension following his online altercation with actor Lege Maimi over Baba Ijesha’s alleged child abuse case.

DAILY POST reports that Blessing’s campaign with colleague Iyabo Ojo against Baba Ijesha has provoked backlash from some TAMPAN members including Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi.

In response to the public chaos, veteran actor Jide Kosoko banned directors from working with Iyabo Ojo and Blessing, prompting him to mock the association’s decision.

However, speaking at the 2024 Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada on Sunday, Nkechi Blessing publicly apologized to TAMPAN amid tears.

In a viral video on social media, she said: “I am truly sorry for everything I have done. I beg from the bottom of my heart that I miss the industry. You all made me who I am today. I am celebrated all over the world because of you. Please, I’m sorry.

In response, TAMPAN President Mr Latin acknowledged that her apology brought a sense of resolution to the situation while actor Odunlade Adekola commended her for her public apology.

Recall that Baba Ijesha was sentenced to prison by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja Special Offenses Court in July 2022, after over 12 months of trial.
