More than half the country prefers to eat side dishes on Thanksgiving – but what is the most popular side dish in Massachusetts?

“Campbell”Condition report» for 2024 found that 56% of participants would rather eat side dishes than turkey on Thanksgiving.

The five most popular side dishes nationally were stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and mac and cheese. This list is similar to the Bay State’s most popular side dishes.

Stuffing took first place in Massachusetts, while mashed potatoes came in second. Next come the cranberry sauce, root vegetables, and sweet potatoes, respectively.

The Campbell’s report also found that 54 percent of Northeastern residents favor stuffing, making it the most popular Thanksgiving side dish in the region.

The “State of the Side” report also looked at the most popular Thanksgiving activities in the United States, such as watching a Thanksgiving parade or a football game. The report found that 76% of adults ages 18 to 25 curate Thanksgiving playlists.
