Former Hong Kong Cyberport CEO appointed to head Office to Attract Strategic Businesses

The former CEO of a major Hong Kong technology park has been appointed by the government to head an office tasked with attracting companies in targeted fields to the city.

Peter Yan King-shun, who led the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company from 2018 until early this year, will take over as director-general of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES) from Tuesday.

He is also a member of three city stock exchange committees.

“Yan has rich experience and in-depth knowledge in the field of information technology and has frequently communicated and collaborated with stakeholders in strategic industries,” Finance Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said in a statement on Monday announcing the appointment.

“I am confident that Mr. Yan will lead (the office) in attracting more strategic enterprises to Hong Kong, thereby contributing to the city’s innovation and technology development as well as its economic modernization and transformation. “

Yan has more than 39 years of experience in the technology sector, having also served as executive director and CEO of Sunevision, the technology arm of developer Sun Hung Kai Properties, according to the government.
