LESCO launches annual development work for system reliability – Markets

LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has started comprehensive annual development and maintenance works in its eight circles to improve and protect its power transmission infrastructure.

Under the direction of Chief Engineer Shahid Hyder, the annual maintenance program includes pruning trees near power lines and poles as well as cleaning and repairing the system. The main objectives of this exercise are to ensure uninterrupted power supply during smog and fog and to improve the reliability and safety of the system.

CEO LESCO has implemented a comprehensive maintenance program in an efficient manner, minimizes unnecessary damage to trees during pruning and ensures that only essential branches are removed. He said LESCO’s proactive measures aim to mitigate power outages, improve customer experience and maintain a robust transmission network.

At the same time, LESCO reached an important milestone in its crusade against electricity theft, carrying out 394 days of operations. Under the leadership of Chief Engineer Shahid Hyder and in accordance with the directives of the Energy Division of the Ministry of Energy, LESCO’s anti-electricity theft campaign was very successful. So far, 136,998 complaints have been filed against electricity thieves, with 42,913 culprits arrested and illegal connections disconnected. Furthermore, LESCO charged a detection bill worth Rs156.938 million units valued at Rs.5.754 billion.

The LESCO chief said that this campaign demonstrates LESCO’s commitment to combating electricity theft and ensuring reliable power supply to its customers.
