Roll up your sleeves for a creperie roll in Mililani

MILILANI (KHON2) – They are a husband and wife duo with almost 20 years of combined experience making Japanese-style pancakes. Masaru and Ash-Lee Okamoto ran another creperie in Shirokiya, so they knew how to run a shop.

In Mililani, they sell Japanese-style crepes, which are basically “crepe cones.” They put all the different ingredients in it, roll it into a cone shape and wrap it in paper. If you’ve been to Japan, you’ll often see creperies, and that’s what the majority of them look like, according to the Okamotos. The idea is to be able to eat a crepe on the go. Ash-Lee says they always tell those eating Japanese pancakes for the first time that it’s like eating an ice cream cone at first, but after eating one, it’s like a sandwich/burrito.

Their menu is primarily sweet crepes, but they also offer a handful of savory crepes. Honestly, they eat the savory items the most and many customers say good things to the owners about their basil sauce and tuna salad (both made on site). They also have small offerings, like nutella and custard puffs, which are also very popular.

The Okamotos are celebrating Roll Creperie’s first anniversary next month with special offers from November 2-3. You can view them here.
