The first severe frost of the year should be late

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — We got a taste of cool temperatures over the weekend, but even though the weather has warmed up, the FOX21 News Storm Team says the first hard freeze of the year is approaching. However, according to records, this year’s first frost may occur a little later than usual.

The first hard freeze this year will be nearly a month late, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo. On average, in Colorado Springs, the first date of a hard freeze is October 1. For Pueblo it is October 8th and in Alamosa it is September 11th. For this year, we expect severe frost to occur on the night of October 29.

Even though this frost is late, it will not be the last one ever recorded. In Colorado Springs, the last date was October 31, 1963, while in Pueblo it was November 1 of the same year. In Alamosa, it was October 4, 1997.
