PM Anwar: Malaysia will maintain support for Palestine while strengthening international relations

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 29 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will continue to maintain good relations with all nations to increase investment in the country while firmly maintaining its support for Palestine.

Speaking at the second series of the MADANI Fellows Forum in Malaysia last night, Anwar said Malaysia’s positive ties with other countries were part of a strategy to build internal resilience to safeguard interests national security, security and future of the country.

“I know our position on Gaza, but we must also take into account our national interests.

“That’s why I mentioned in the Cabinet meeting that, regarding Gaza, we always express our position strongly, whether in front of Biden (US President Joe Biden) or Blinken (US Secretary of State Antony Blinken), as I believe (Israel) violated all humanitarian considerations,” he said.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, added that currently, the countries that are speaking out and acting boldly against Israel’s continued atrocities against the Palestinians are Turkey and Iran.

“We talk, but we forget that without inner strength we cannot do anything. Therefore, we must also strengthen our internal resilience,” he said.

Anwar noted that the continuing Israeli invasion and atrocities against Palestinians have reached an extreme and inhumane level, leading to the deaths of innocent women and children.

“It’s disgusting, I see children being killed every day. It’s morally bankrupt, that’s why I say there is no compassion, no humanity,” he said. — Bernama
