Community invited to final Reno Parks Master Plan workshop

The City of Reno is calling on community members and stakeholders to participate in the Wingfield and Barbara Bennett Parks Final Master Plan Virtual Workshop.

Scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the workshop will unveil the preferred concept for the parks, giving participants a final chance to provide feedback before the plan is submitted to the Recreation and Parks Commission of Reno for adoption.

The public is encouraged to register in advance for the virtual meeting. A recording of the event will be made available online for those who are unable to attend.

“This workshop is critical to finalizing the vision that reflects the needs of the community, ensuring these parks continue to serve as spaces enjoyed by all,” said Nathan Ullyot, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Reno. He expressed gratitude for the community input received throughout the planning process.

Barbara Bennett Park, located along the Truckee River, and Wingfield Park, known for its amphitheater and trails, are an integral part of Reno’s park system. The master plan, developed with public participation since January 2023, aims to promote these spaces for diverse recreational uses.

The planning process included workshops and a community survey to gather public feedback. The project focuses on improvements that will meet a wide range of ages, abilities and interests for future generations. A live poll will be conducted during the workshop to collect final feedback from participants, and Spanish support will be available.
