Apple announced an all-new iMac Pro M4 yesterday, which we called a serious competitor for creative work. In addition to the new chip, the new all-in-one computer includes “new” accessories, including the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard. But those who hoped Apple would fix its most infamous design crime can heave a sigh of despair.

For the uninitiated, Apple’s Magic Mouse has a charging port at the bottom, which means that the moment it runs out of juice, it’s impossible to use. Cue the cries of frustration from creatives halfway through projects. And even though Apple eventually added USB-C to the mouse, the charging port remains at the bottom.

“Every iMac comes with an optional color-matched Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad, all of which now feature a USB-C port, so users can charge their favorite devices with just one cable,” we read. Apple’s announcement – without any acknowledgment of the pain of said accusation.

Many have speculated about what led to the bizarre decision to place the port at the bottom of the mouse. “It seems like they wanted to make sure the design aesthetic wasn’t compromised,” one said. Reddit user suggestswhile another wonders if Apple made “as little effort as possible” by simply replacing the Magic Mouse 1’s battery compartment with a port. “I suspect they wanted to sell a dedicated charging station for these devices, but they abandoned it at some point,” adds another user.

Whatever the reason, it’s one of the most infuriating design quirks of all time – and as any Magic Mouse user will attest, this thing still manages to run out of battery. just as you move forward with an incredibly important and urgent task. Just search for “worst Apple design” on Twitter and you’ll come across countless photos of Magic Mice upside down.

There’s no denying that the Magic Mouse 2 favors form over function – but hey, at least it looks good. Even though this is the case with most of its products, Apple has let slip some aesthetic monstrosities over the years. Here are the 10 most beautiful Apple products – and the 5 ugliest.
