Jersey and Guernsey could follow the Isle of Man with 22% income tax

In Jersey, a growing campaign for similar measures is also underway.

Jersey Reform Party deputy leader Sam Mezec has described the proposed 22% increase in income tax in Guernsey as a “bold” move.

He said his party has long supported income tax reform as a way to shore up funding for public services.

He said: “We support an increase in income tax for Jersey’s highest earners.

“The current system is decades old and it is not providing what we need in public revenue. »

He added that his party would look to Guernsey to learn from the increase, if given the green light.

The States of Guernsey will meet on November 5 to debate the proposals, which have already encountered some opposition.
