Scissor Sisters tease reunion and live shows

Nearly 12 years to the day since they took an indefinite hiatus, New York pop rock band Scissor sisters perhaps teases their long-awaited return.

News of a potential return came thanks to the group’s social media activity, which saw them update their Facebook, XAnd Instagram profile photos with a static television image. A user has even noted the presence of something square hidden In the static, potentially hinting at a single or an album.

As well as confusing their social media reports, fans across the UK have also pointed out the band’s logo appearing on the side of Manchester’s Co-op Live arena, perhaps also suggesting a return live.

Currently, the group has not made any official statement regarding a comeback, instead letting rumors run wild.

Scissor Sisters first formed in 2000 and released a total of four records between 2004 and 2012, including those from 2010. Night work becoming their highest charting record in the United States, reaching number 18 on the Billboard 200 (its predecessor Ta-Dah reached 19th place in 2006). In the UK, however, the band received a much stronger response, with their first two albums reaching the top of the Official UK Albums Chart, and Night work and 2012 magic hour reaching numbers 2 and 4 respectively.

In October 2012, the band announced their hiatus from performing in England, with a performance in Italy on November 1, 2012 being their final live appearance to date. In 2017, the group came together somewhat again, in collaboration with MNDR on the song “Swerlk” to honor the one-year anniversary of the Orlando nightclub shooting.

In 2019, frontman Jake Shears reflected on the disappearance of the group, recounting CitiesGay that the group’s decision to split followed the success of 2012’s “Let’s Have a Kiki,” which became their third song to top the chart. Dance Club Songs chart.

“I didn’t know what to say after that song, quite honestly,” Shears said in 2019. “When that song came out and did what it did… I was like, ‘Well, that’s it, I guess we did.

“I thought we’d been recording and touring for 10 years, and I felt like it was time,” he added. “It wasn’t what anyone in the group planned to do. So I thought it would be fun to end on a high note.

During his interview, Shears hinted at the group’s future, noting that the uncertainty of their hiatus would eventually end with a possible comeback.

“That doesn’t mean we’ll never do anything again,” Shears said. “The Scissor Sisters will be back.”
