NDP says it won’t help Conservatives and Bloc overthrow Liberals

Ottawa –

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said his caucus would not give in to demands from the Bloc Québécois and Conservative leaders to help them topple the Liberal government.

Tuesday, leader of the Bloc Yves-François Blanchet said he would make good on his threat to work with opposition parties to overthrow the minority Liberals with a vote of no confidence.

The Conservatives and Bloc would also need the support of the NDP to achieve this, but Singh says he won’t “play their games.”

Singh, who now holds the power to call the next election, says his party is ready to campaign when the time comes.

But he reiterates that the NDP vote will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Singh accuses the Bloc of helping the Conservativeswhich he said would reduce the services and programs people need.
