Cooler temperatures and a rainy weekend

Yesterday’s Pacific cold front managed to cool temperatures across New Mexico. These cooler temperatures are expected to continue over the next few days.

Last night’s Pacific cold front continues to move eastward this afternoon. That evening, the front should have crossed the entirety of New Mexico and settled into Texas. The result of this front is a much cooler day today than yesterday. Cold air brought in from the front will also lower temperatures tonight. Many areas of New Mexico will experience their first frost of the fall season tonight. Due to this drop in temperatures, a frost warning is in effect for some areas from midnight until 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 31. Temperatures will begin to warm temporarily through Saturday. Before refreshing again next week.

The next chance for rain in New Mexico will come on Friday. Southerly winds will bring moisture to the state, bringing rain chances to eastern New Mexico Friday afternoon. This rain will continue until Saturday.

By Sunday, the next fall storm system will have reached New Mexico. This low pressure system will bring stronger winds and widespread rain from Sunday into early next week.
