Manitoba Bridge to reopen soon

In Manitoba, a bridge badly damaged by a fire a year ago is about to reopen to traffic.

A Manitoba government spokesperson told CTV News Winnipeg that construction on the Manning Canal Bridge Replacement Project on Provincial Highway 311 began in January.

“The project is currently on track to be substantially completed and open to traffic by early November,” the spokesperson said.

The bridge, located east of New Bothwell, caught fire on May 16. The Fire Marshal’s Office said the cause of the fire was accidental.

The province said completion of the project, including site cleanup, is expected to occur in the spring and summer of 2025.
