Omaha totaled more rain Wednesday than the last two months combined

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The long, dry streak is over. Omaha received 0.85 inches of rain between Wednesday and Thursday. This is more than the entire months of September and October (until the 29th) combined. About 0.80 inch fell Wednesday and 0.05 inch fell early Halloween morning.

This is good news for many! The burning ban that had been in effect for a month in Douglas County has now been lifted, allowing bonfires just in time for Halloween night.

Even higher totals fell southeast of the metro. Nebraska City, Beatrice and Maryville totaled nearly 1.5 inches, with Shenandoah reaching 1.75 inches. Some places reached 3 inches, as shaded in orange color.

For this reason, 2024 is no longer the driest September and October on record. This year is now the second driest, which is still very notable!
