TVA Board of Directors to Discuss xAI Super Computer Power Requirements at Next Meeting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) — Action News 5 confirmed tonight that the Tennessee Valley Authority board will consider the request to power Elon Musk’s xAI super computer in Memphis at its meeting next week, on November 7.

The board must approve projects requiring more than 100 megawatts of energy.

The Super Computer facility requires 150 megawatts and currently uses gas turbines and batteries to supplement the power it draws from the MLGW grid.

For comparison, 150 megawatts are enough to power 100,000 homes.

XAI will have to sign an agreement to reduce power if the TVA and MLGW systems are subject to constraints.
