Teen accused of stabbing boy during Peoria high school football game

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A 14-year-old boy faces serious charges after being arrested nearly two weeks following a stabbing during a Peoria high school football game earlier this month.

The suspect turned himself in to police on Wednesday. He was booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault.

On the night of October 18, the two boys apparently fought near the bleachers at Peoria High School, near 83rd Avenue and Grand Avenue.

That’s when the 14-year-old stabbed the other in the stomach, police said.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries while the suspect left the scene.

Police said the recommended charges could be changed.

“Every school’s campus grounds should be considered a safe place, and those who are willing to compromise will be identified, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the Peoria Police Department said in a statement. press release.
