Second winner of the Golden Ticket which marked the Andrew Ramsden Stakes. He had a clear round late in the Geelong Cup and finished sixth.

3 VAUBAN (55.5 kg)

Last year’s favorite who didn’t produce anything close to a peak performance, finishing 14th. Finished second to Kyprios in the Irish St Leger, which was an elite performance.

4 CIRCLE OF FIRE (54.5kg)

Won the Sydney Cup in the autumn, but three races since haven’t quite been to the same standard.

5 BOUCAROU (54.5 kg)

Continues to defy any doubts about endurance with a strong run in the Caulfield Cup behind Duke De Sessa. Before that, the Via Sistina was pushed into the Turnbull.

6 DEFORMATION SPEEDS (54.5 kg)

Endurance will not be an issue, with the Japanese raider having produced his best form beyond 3000m. Forget racing the Caulfield Cup on a soft track.

7ZARDOZI (51kg)

Entered to race in the Group 1 Empire Rose against Amelia’s Jewel and Alsephina on Saturday. Won the 2023 VRC Oaks, so he can stay.

8 SHARP ‘N’ SMART (53.5 kg)

I came home with a goal in the Moonee Valley Cup. Showed endurance by being runner-up in the 2022 Victoria Derby.

9KOVALICA (53.5kg)

Won the 2023 Queensland Derby over the distance then his sixth place at Cox Plate was solid with his best work late.

10 EARTH LEGEND (53kg)

I woke up and had a long run in the Caulfield Cup, but held on to finish third. A firmer track should be a help.

11 ABSURD (52.5 kg)

Finished seventh in the Cup last year and enters this year’s race as last-start winner of the Chester Stakes. I started running 500m last year and was a late burnout.

12 ATHABASCAN (52kg)

Winner of the ATC St Leger who showed courage to win the prize. Earlier in the year he finished second in the Sydney Cup.

13 MAHRAJAAN (52kg)

Finished last in the Sydney Cup and 13th in the Herbert Power, uninspiring efforts. Won the NZ Cup over 3200m in 2023.

14 KNIGHT’S CHOICE (51.5 kg)

14th place in the Caulfield Cup leaves a lot to be desired. Winter form is good but the Cup will be more difficult.

15 OKITA SOUSHI (51kg)

Eleventh in last year’s Cup when trained by Joseph O’Brien, but Ciaron Maher got him pumped with a win in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup last start.

16 ONESMOOTOPERATOR (51kg)

Geelong Cup winner who roared with masterful dominance. It was just as beautiful as Media Puzzle, Americain and Dunaden. He was the second favorite until a veterinarian reported a cut heel on Friday, which caused him to drift to the third most lied about horse by punters. Will be re-examined on Saturday.

17 KING OF THE SEA (50.5 kg)

The explosive work in the Bendigo Cup marked him as a truly great contender for the race. Defeat the Onesmoothoperator in the Ebor before coming.

18 VALIANT KING (50.5 kg)

Ninth in the Caulfield Cup, which was slightly worse than his sixth the previous year, Chris Waller taking over from J O’Brien. Only won once, but don’t discount the Valiant Kings’ chances. After showing an altered gait during inspection on Thursday, he was re-examined on Friday and deemed fit.

19 INTERPRETATION (50kg)

Last year’s Bendigo Cup winner who finished sixth in this race last year. Distant but honorable second in the Geelong Cup. Will be reviewed tomorrow.

20 FANTASY MAN (50kg)

Sixth in the Caulfield Cup, but needs to reach a new level.

21 Mostly CLOUDY (50kg)

Things didn’t go as planned in The Bart Cummings, who has shown perseverance in the past, even if it’s more difficult.

22 POSITIVITY (50kg)

Scratched from the Caulfield Cup and was held strong finishing eighth in the Moonee Valley Cup.

23 MISSION OF LOVE (50kg)

Eleventh in the Geelong Cup after leading and folding. We must raise. Stewards of Racing Victoria and Mission of Love will not progress either, although the mare received Bolter’s claims at best.

24 TRUST IN YOU (50kg)

Fourth in the ATC St Leger behind Land Legend and Athabascan. Around thirty starts under his belt but he still has to prove himself in class and distance.

25 SAINT-GEORGE (50kg)

Finished fifth in the Moonee Valley Cup with the fastest final furlong of the event.

26 MANZOICE (50kg)

Winner of the 2022 Victoria Derby who has not revisited these heights and has not returned to Flemington since.

27 KINESIOLOGY (50kg)

He’s only had seven starts for a win, but there’s a lot of promise if this horse can make Tuesday’s race.

28 FRANCESCO GUARDI (52kg)

Won the 2023 Moonee Valley Gold Cup in such style that he was the hot favorite for the race but did not start. Finished sixth in this year’s Moonee Valley Gold Cup.

29 WALTHAM (50kg)

Another with only seven starts but two wins and his run in the ATC St Leger has been nice.
