FITZGERALD’S MARK MOMENT

Congratulations to Jayce Fitzgerald, who was part of a senior team for the first time in United’s 5-2 win over Leicester City on Wednesday. Interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy said this to MUTV after the match:

“It was fantastic to have him in the dressing room today. I asked him what his feelings were and he was proud and (he said) it was a dream come true.

“He is a 17-year-old boy who is doing very well at the academy, like Jack Fletcher, Harry Amass and Ethan Wheatley as well. They are gaining experience in training sessions and are also close to the team for matches like this.

“For them, it’s fantastic; for their development, even more.”

Jayce’s inclusion, alongside seven other Academy graduates, marked 87 years of an Academy graduate in every United matchday team. It’s a remarkable record that spans over 4,250 games.
